Helsinki leads the way with a network of Omnigym outdoor gyms

Helsinki has made promoting physical activity a strategic priority, aiming to increase movement in residents' daily lives. Helsinki is committed to fostering an active lifestyle by continuously improving conditions and expanding exercise opportunities. With over 50 Omnigyms installed, Helsinki plans to double this number by 2032.

Designed to endure Helsinki's shifting weather, Omnigym outdoor gyms exemplify the city's focus on low-barrier exercise opportunities. This initiative aligns with "Helsinki Happiness", a sense of fulfillment rooted in an active and balanced urban lifestyle. These outdoor gyms are easily accessible, just a short walk or bike ride away.

HELSINKI SETS THE STANDARD

Smart city planning with free to use Omnigym outdoor gyms

Making spontaneous activity accessible to all is a good example of smart city planning. Helsinki’s success has inspired other cities in Finland and across Europe, including Stockholm, Copenhagen, and Vilnius. Today, Omnigym outdoor gyms are found in over 550 locations across Europe. And the outdoor gym network is expanding rapidly.

Finland’s largest Omnigym is located in Helsinki’s Mustikkamaa, offering 20 pieces of equipment with adjustable weights. Another popular spot is the Omnigym at Töölö Bay, just an 18-minute walk from the Oodi Central Library, with 14 pieces of equipment with adjustable weights. Helsinki's outdoor gyms typically have 8-15 pieces of equipment.

How to enter the Omnigym giveaway:

The giveaway is open to village and neighborhood associations, student organizations, privately owned campgrounds or B&Bs, local sports teams, community activists, cottage village communities, island communities, and small municipalities. To participate, you must be based in Europe.

Enter the Omnigym giveaway for a chance to win a free outdoor gym to your community! Simply fill out the form and share why your community needs a free-to-use outdoor gym that is open to all, all year round. You can also suggest a possible location.

Basic rules

Who can enter?
Village and neighborhood associations, student organizations, privately owned campgrounds or B&Bs, local sports teams, community activists, cottage village communities, and small municipalities. Participants must be located in Europe.

Deadline & Announcement
The Omnigym giveaway closes on Saturday, June 21st
The winner will be announced on Monday, June 27th
Start date, International Day of Happiness, March 20th.

Winner notification
The winner will be contacted privately via email.

How to Participate?
Write why winning a free outdoor gym matters to your community. Suggest a possible location. Omnigym can assist in determining the final location. Participate by filling out the form below.

Winner Selection & Installation
Omnigym will review entries, select a winner, and donater one outdoor gym with five pieces of equipment. Equipment will be delivered fully assembled. The outdoor gym includes 5 pieces of equipment. Installation and groundwork is not included, but consultancy is available. Omnigym reserves the right to change terms and conditions. Omnigym may showcase the winning community.
